At First Congregational Church, Youth Matter. Young people in 7th -12th grades attend worship regularly and participate in worship as ushers, greeters, and readers on a regular basis. On Wednesday nights, our Emerge program for 6th-8th graders and our Connections program for 9th-12th graders foster fun, friendship, spirituality, and opportunities for service. Youth regularly participate in service projects, outings, and retreats in addition to Wednesday programs.
The typical Wednesday schedule beginning September 17, 2008 is:
- 6:00-6:45pm Emerge for 6th-8th grades Upper Room
- 6:45-7:15pm Dinner for all youth, 6th-12th grades Pilgrim Hall
- 7:15-8:00pm Connections for 9th-12th grades Upper Room

Emerge is our Middle School Youth Group (grades 6-8). Emerge meets on Wednesdays from 6:00-6:45pm in the Upper Room of FCCW. After Emerge, we have a community dinner with Connections (the Sr. High Youth Group) until 7:15pm in Pilgrim Hall.

Making Disciples is our confirmation program for youth in 8th grade. Youth are assigned a mentor from the congregation and meet with their mentors and pastors several times during the year in preparation for Confirmation Sunday, May 3, 2009. These sessions are scheduled with each Confirmation Class and take place concurrent with Emerge on Wednesday nights, or following worship on Sunday mornings.
